Grant-Writing Workshop with Dr. Jodi Breckenridge Petit

Jodi Breckenridge Petit teaches effective writing within the US special operations community; leads a small business; and enjoys volunteering as a grant writing mentor to important nonprofit groups. Dr. Breckenridge Petit lives in Salida, Colorado; married Brian 26 years ago; and loves their three young-adult boys.

DETAILS: This workshop will be held in the Tolkein Room of the Salida Public Library, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

To allow for safe and healthy personal space, capacity will be limited, so please sign up early!

Cost is Free to Chaffee Commons members and just $20.00 for non-members. All Nonprofits from Chaffee County and surrounding areas are welcome to participate.

Get ready to write! Proposal writing may not be the reason you created or joined your non-profit, but it is an important means to the support you provide your communities. Practice with tools to create effective, concrete grant responses; join our best practices dialogue; and learn to save time.

What to bring: paper and writing utensil, laptop if you have one (not required), any of your organization's current written products (statements of purpose, fundraising email, brochure, volunteer guidelines, introductory paragraphs for grants, etc., not required but very helpful) to improve upon during our session, and a willingness to engage and grow!

End of the Year Fundraising

Say what? It’s the end of year already? Well, not technically.  But there is no time like September to plan your year-end fundraising campaign.  In this webinar we will go through the steps of conducting a End Of Year (EOY) fundraising review and explore 3 ways you can maximize your EOY fundraising successes.  During the last part of the session, we’ll walk through a one-page EOY fundraising plan taking what we learned and applying it immediately to the work at hand.

This is a FREE workshop generously offered by Katie Davis. Katie (she/her) has been working with leaders and boards in organizational effectiveness and fund development since 2001. Katie holds a Masters degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management from Western Illinois University, a Certificate of Nonprofit Management and Leadership from University of Washington and a BS degree in Biology from Principia College. She is also certified in human resources management through the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). She has served in a variety of roles in the nonprofit sector including Executive Director, Director of Philanthropy, Communications Director, Volunteer Coordinator and Board Member. Katie enjoys helping nonprofits to thrive – focusing on strategic and decisive organizational opportunities and fund development. She is passionate about this work and deeply grateful for all the organizations working to care for our communities.

Logo generously developed by Ovid Nine Creative Lab

Are you seeking ways to be more resilient as a nonprofit? Want to meet other like-minded nonprofit leaders in the community? Want to have more collective impact in the community? Need to make changes because of COVID-19?

PIVOT2020 is for you.

The CCCF is announcing Pivot 2020, a virtual conference for local nonprofits. The twelve-hour conference will be held in four sessions spread over four weeks. Thursday mornings, July 30-August 20. It will also be recorded so registrants will receive access to material post conference.

  • When: 4 sessions over 4 weeks on Thursdays - July 30, Aug 6, Aug 13, Aug 20

  • When: 9:00am-12:30pm each session

  • Where: Virtually via zoom

Yes - we’ve already started but you can still register, learn, and participate! (Follow link below)

We invite all local nonprofits to join the conference. Pivot 2020 is focused on Chaffee County’s 150+ nonprofit organizations, including strategic planning work with local businesses to envision an interconnected and resilient Chaffee. Pivot 2020 is designed to challenge the status quo, cast a bold new vision, and invest technical assistance into participating organizations to ensure they have the tools they need to collaborate and thrive far into the future.

We invite all local nonprofits to join the conference. Through a mixture of general sessions with local experts and breakout sessions designed to hold facilitated space for you and your peers, the following goals will be accomplished:

Goals:

  • Collaboration in resiliency mindset

    • Releasing siloed approach

    • Working with strategic and growth mindset

  • Form new concrete relationships with other organizations

  • Ability to think critically about about organization’s impact and need within community

  • Impact of COVID-19 and what changes to make as a result

Numerous breakout sessions will allow each organization to share their voice in strengths, opportunities and challenges due to COVID-19. In these sessions, you’ll get to work directly with other organizations in your position and share ideas on pivoting.

Walk away from Pivot 2020 with inspiration, ideas, applicable tools, and forward motion with strategies to support your resiliency as an organization. Together we are stronger and we want to hold the space for productive conversation to occur.

We encourage all nonprofits to join us! While information is targeted at Chaffee County organizations, nonprofits outside the area are welcome.

Registration is $20 per participant or $40 for up to 3 participants from one nonprofit. With any questions, please contact Emily Marquis, CCCF Project Manager at emily@chaffeecommunity.org or 720-862-4756.
